(Image: © Shutterstock) Some Verizon customers woke up this morning to their phones in SOS mode due to an an apparent outage, which has yet to be resolved now that we're more than halfway through the afternoon. Service tracker Downdetector first registered a huge spike starting at 10:00 a.m. ET, with many customers saying on X and Threads that they’re having issues placing phone calls. There doesn’t appear to be an early culprit to the outage from this morning, but Verizon engineers are actively looking to the issue. The Chargers do have quarterback Justin Herbert available to them, however, after he was  day-to-day with an ankle injury  all week. That should be a big boost on Sunday afternoon. Elsewhere in the late slate, the 2-1 Commanders and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels are in Arizona to take on the Cardinals, the 49ers host the Patriots and the Raiders will try to bounce back from a loss to the Panthers with the Browns in Las Vegas. You really don’t have to be much of a football expert to understand this is not good. In fact, it’s impossibly, unbelievably, astonishingly bad.
